Honk the Moose is a statue of a life-size moose in the Iron Range town of Biwabik, MN. The moose is a depiction of a real life moose who made his winter home in town during the winter of 1935. He stands in a city park in the middle of town, easily visible on the main drag.
The oft-overlooked and under-appreciated Iron Range in the northern corner of Minnesota is home to a wide array of geologic wonders, scenic lookouts, and roadside attractions. Minnesota is hockey country, no question about that. There are over 200 past and present NHL players from here, and the University of MN (Minneapolis and Duluth) have produced dozens of pros as well over the years. And the further North you go, the more prevalent hockey is. Moorhead, Thief River Falls, Roseau, Warroad, Virginia, Eveleth, and plenty of other towns have long been associated with the sport, given the cold weather climate.
