Cafesjian’s Carousel, St Paul, MN
One of the more storied and interesting attractions of the Como Zoo & Conservatory in St Paul, MN, is Cafesjian’s Carousel. Located just south of the McNeeley Conservatory, this whimsical, old-timey merry-go-round has been delighting youngsters for generations, although at one point it was on the auction block ready to be shipped away in pieces, never to be seen again. Awhile back I wrote an article discussing the Top 10 Roadside Attractions in MN. It was certainly difficult to decide which ones to include, but I stand by the list. Then I got to thinking, how could I forgot so many other good ones? Do I go up to a Top 20, a Top 50? How about an alternate Top 10? Reconciliation Park, Mankato, MN
Mankato, MN, has the unfortunate distinction of being the site of the largest mass execution in US history. On Dec. 26, 1862, at the end of the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862, 38 Dakota Sioux Indians were publicly hanged by the US Army for their attack on white settlers in New Ulm, MN.
